Feinstein Encouraged By Survival of Immigration Legislation

California Senator Dianne Feinstein can breathe a short sigh of relief that her immigration reform legislation has survived its first week. Jodi Breisler reports from Capitol Hill.

As part of the bipartisan coalition who put together the Senate compromise, Feinstein is proud of the agricultural jobs provision and the pathway to citizenship for over 12 million illegal immigrants.

Feinstein says the group has managed to stay together despite some strong legislative challenges.

Feinstein : It's easy for this coalition to become frayed. And I really hope it doesn't because the more I go into this from a California perspective, the more I see how valuable this can be.

The Senate is on recess next week for the Memorial Day Holiday. The coalition plans to use that time to lobby other senators. The immigration debate is set to resume in early June.
