is launching a campaign called Carbon Free Voting 2008. Spokesman Roger Salazar says the goal is to encourage people to vote by mail instead of driving to the polls.
Roger Salazar:
You know there are some states that have gone like Oregon that have gone to vote by mail systems, so we think voting by mail is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to vote.
Salazar says the campaign will also purchase some carbon offsets to balance the pollution created by producing the mailers. But some have raised questions about the mailer. It features former Assemblywoman and current state Senate candidate, Democrat Fran Pavley. It will be sent out in Southern California, including the district she's running in. Salazar says the effort has nothing to do with her campaign. He notes it's targeting the February presidential primary.
