Director of Emergency Services Brings Update

Tom Fudge: This morning, fire fighters are making progress in surrounding the fires that burned hundreds of thousands of acres in San Diego County last week. Last week's emergencies were unprecedented in our region as to the number of people who were evacuated. More than half a million San Diego County residents were asked to leave their homes.

Ron Lane is the director of emergency services for San Diego County. He joins me now over the phone to bring us up-to-date on evacuations, repopulation and how decisions about evacuating were made.
