Fans of Beethoven and the Rolling Stones Find Common Ground

Tom Fudge: This weekend, the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus begins its new season. The concert will feature music by Philip Glass and John Luther Adams. And the symphony will have a new conductor. UCSD music professor and percussionist Steve Schick has taken over as music director of the symphony.

Steve is an interesting choice for music director. His specialty is contemporary music, not classical music. And he brings what may be an unusually broad music appreciation to the head of the symphony.
