Officials Announce Ramona Tap Water Safe to Drink

Ramona residents can start drinking tap water again, San Diego County officials announced today.

Ramona residents can start drinking tap water again, San Diego County officials announced today.

The water supply was declared unsafe for consumption after power to the main pumping station was lost amid the wildfires a week ago today, but the system has since been flushed and repressurized.

The Ramona Municipal Water District, which serves about 36,000 customers, tested the water to make sure it was free of contaminants, and the state Department of Public Health signed off on the decision to approve the water for drinking, said Bill Polick of the county of Public Works.

In order to keep the water pressure up, outdoor water use remains prohibited.
