Culture Lust by Angela Carone

Listen to These Days tomorrow at 10:30 am to hear Thomas Lauderdale , founder and leader of the retro chic 12-piece band Pink Martini . We'll play music from the albums Sympathique , Hang on Little Tomato , and the new album, Hey Eugene .
Lauderdale is quite the character -- smart and stylish, with eclectic taste that tends toward the cinematic, and an unabashed lover of beauty. If you invited him to a dinner party, he'd naturally hold court, tell fascinating, witty stories, and say fabulous a lot.
Pink Martini is playing Humphrey's by the Bay tonight and tomorrow night at 8 pm. If anyone goes to the show, report back here!

What can I say, if you want culture with a kick, this is the group. A friend at work turned me on to this band and I am hooked. The mix of linguistics and sounds is a refreshing blend from today's packaged bands. When was the last time you went to a concert where the band was in suits and dresses (other than a symphony)? I wish more people knew about Pink Martini and I look forward to seeing them again in San Diego. -----
