Alan Ray : Before he was a best selling author, San Diego resident Joseph Wambaugh was a detective with the Los Angeles Police Dept. That experience helped Wambaugh write about cops as real people. More than 3 decades later he's still writing. NPR's Mandalit del Barco explores Wambaugh's Los Angeles with this special report.
