Authorities have shut down two lanes on the northbound side of Interstate 5 after a police chase ended in an accident that injured four.
San Diego County sheriff's deputies chased a suspected parole violator at speeds up to 70 miles per hour through city streets and onto the interstate from an apartment complex in the semi-rural city of Vista.
California Highway Patrol Officer Rob Sanchez says the suspect's tan Ford sport utility vehicle collided with another car at about 10:45 a.m Wednesday.
Sheriff's Lt. Larry Nesbit says the suspect fled but was captured nearby. His name has not been released.
Three people who were riding in the man's car were seriously injured and one person in the second car sustained minor injuries.
