CA Population Changes Present Challenges for Future

Audio

Audio posted in the afternoon.

Tom Fudge:  What will California be in the year 2020? The answer: much like it is now, only more so. The country's largest state, by population, will get even bigger. Ethnic Hispanics will actually outnumber white people. And, elderly people will make up a much bigger proportion of the population. These trends are likely to have a dramatic effect on our politics and the way we spend money.

Jean Ross is director of the California Budget Project. Her group has come out with a report called Planning for California's Future: The State's Population is Growing, Aging, and Becoming More Diverse .
