The most common sticker on lapels at the GOP Event was for Mitt Romney, and Romney's son Matt, a resident of San Diego, made an appearance.

San Diego's republican congressmen each endorsed a different candidate.

Darryl Issa, a McCain supporter, stayed in Washington DC.

Duncan Hunter endorsed Huckabee. He was also a no-show.

San Diego Congressman Brain Bilbray, a Romney supporter, did attended the event. He's unwilling to cede the race to anyone just yet.

Bilbray : I think the big winner here is the media, obviously. They've got a story, they've got a whole lot of candidates, and they've got a few more months of being able to make a lot out of politics. The slightly overweight lady has not sung yet.

Bilbray says McCain's position on immigration is not tough enough to please many in the party, especially in San Diego.

State Republican party leaders stopped short of declaring McCain the nominee,. But they vowed to unite behind whoever eventually wins the magic number or 1081 delegate votes nationwide.
