S.D. County's School Bond Measures Pass

Three local school bond measures in San Diego County passed easily yesterday. Poway, El Cajon and Rancho Santa Fe can now move forward with construction projects. KPBS Reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.

Poway schools will get close to $180 million under Proposition C. The funding will go towards campus upgrades and repairs. This is the second successful bond measure in six years for Poway. District officials say they could not complete all the projects tied to the previous bond because they ran out of money.

Meanwhile, El Cajon schools will get more than $155 million under Prop. D. This is the second bond in eight years for the Cajon Valley school district. Unlike Poway, the district completed all of its projects tied to the previous measure. School officials say they just want to continue modernizing.

And lastly, Rancho Santa Fe's only school will finally get a makeover under Prop. E. Previous bond measures failed to get approval there because they included plans for a second school.
