It was virtually assured yesterday when City Council President Scott Peters announced he will run against Aguirre in this year's election. Peters has been representing Council District 1 . He is being forced out of office this year due to term limits. In the ongoing battle between the City Council and the city attorney, Aguirre has been one of Peters' harshest critics and Peters has been one of Aguirre's.
