Local ACLU Celebrates 75 Years by Reflecting on Memorable Cases

Tom Fudge: The ACLU has been around for 75 years in San Diego and Imperial Counties, and its colorful history in our region has included fights over labor unrest, racially motivated laws, and the political views of folk singers. The 75th anniversary of the organization will culminate in a gala dinner next month. The featured guest at the dinner will be comic and musician Tommy Smothers . The TV show he co-hosted in the Sixties, The Smother Brothers Show , was known for its political attitude.

Joining us in studio to tell us a little bit of that 75-year history is Kevin Keenan, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of San Diego and Imperial Counties .
