75 SDSU Students Arrested in Undercover Drug Sting

Tom Fudge: Yesterday, dramatic news broke about the sale of illegal drugs on San Diego's biggest university campus. We've learned that 75 students at San Diego State were arrested for dealing drugs , ranging from cocaine to marijuana and ecstasy. The investigation was begun by SDSU police, who enlisted the help of the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. Many of the drugs were dealt out of a handful of fraternity houses, six of which have now been suspended by the university. One of them, in fact, is right across the street from our KPBS studios, which are located on the SDSU campus.

The investigation began with the death by cocaine overdose of a SDSU freshman in May of last year. She died during a party with members of her sorority. Another drug overdose occurred in February, when a Mesa College student died at an SDSU frat house gathering. In all, nearly a 100 suspects were arrested in this drug bust.
