Dengue Fever Puts on a Great Show!

Before the band played, UCSD's ArtPower screened a documentary called Sleepwalking Through the Mekong , about Dengue Fever's first tour in Cambodia. & I loved the documentary, especially the footage of 1960's Cambodian dance parties. & Great stuff. & I think the film is on the festival circuit right now because I don't see it on Netflix. & Keep an eye out for it though. Also, for those of you watching HBO's True Blood, vampire boyfriend Bill Compton was listening to Dengue Fever while driving Sookie home from the Fantasia, the local vampire bar. Check it out .

Oh, and the new space called The Loft, housed in UCSD's Price Center was totally chill, with lots of nice modern touches. & There was work from various artists on the walls and it was actually really good, which is refreshing given how much bad art I see on the walls in coffee shops around town. The Loft is definitely a venue ideal for students but there's no reason why the rest of us shouldn't enjoy its relaxed atmosphere and killer line-up of events. & Parking at the Gilman structure is not as much of pain as I thought it would be, but finding the actual venue took some extra searching. & They definitely need more signage if they are going to cater to the non-UCSD folks. & Overall, it was a fantastic night in San Diego - I only wish we would have gone out for some Cambodian food first!
