Is it possible to learn the history of America in just 90 minutes? The Reduced Shakespeare Company thinks so and they've brought their slap-stick act to the San Diego Rep.
Maureen Cavanaugh: Survey after survey tells us the sad news that many of us know more about American Idol than we do about American history. Who was it, again, we fought in the Revolutionary War? Were Lewis and Clark an early songwriting team? And just who are these people with the weird hair who have their pictures on all of our money?
Never fear, America, The Reduced Shakespeare Company is here with answers to these and so many other questions about America's great and illustrious past. They are in town performing their review, "The Complete History of America (Abridged)." It covers 600 years of history in 6,000 seconds, and in much more interesting ways than your history teacher ever imagined.
The San Diego Repertory Theatre is hosting The Reduced Shakespeare Company's "The Complete History of America (Abridged)" through April 26, 2009, at the Lyceum Theatre in Horton Plaza.
Austin Tichenor, managing partner of The Reduced Shakespeare Company and a performing member of "The Complete History of America (Abridged)."
Reed Martin, co-author of the show and also one of the three performing members of The Reduced Shakespeare Company.
