Ten San Diego-area colleges and universities are ranked among the nation's most military friendly schools by G.I. Jobs magazine.
The magazine's 2010 list of "Military Friendly Schools" included Cuyamaca College, Grossmont College, MiraCosta College, Palomar Community College District, San Diego City College, San Diego Miramar College, San Diego State University, Southwestern College, UC San Diego and the University of San Diego.
According to the magazine, the list recognizes the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools which are doing the most to embrace America's veterans as students.
It was compiled through polling at more than 7,000 schools nationwide by G.I. Jobs magazine. Criteria for making the "Military Friendly Schools" list included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting and academic accreditation.
Schools on the list also offer additional benefits to student veterans such as on-campus veterans programs, credit for service and help for military spouses.
