Firefighters appear to be getting the upper hand on a slow-moving brush fire burning on both sides of Lawson Valley Road and Sloane Canyon Road near Jamul, says Cal Fire's Roxanne Provaznik.
She says the fire has been contained on three sides and has blackened nearly an acre of heavy brush. One helicopter is still on scene but another has been released, along with two air tankers.
Firefighters also are working to contain a small brush fire near the Valley View Casino. That fire is expected to be out in 45 minutes, Provaznik says.
