— Law enforcement agencies will be doing a full-court press in San Diego County this weekend to arrest drunk drivers. The Fourth of July typically has more drunk driving crashes than any other holiday.

Law enforcement officials say by far, July 4th is the most dangerous holiday for drivers. And between 8-9 p.m. is the most dangerous hour. Over the last ten July 4ths in San Diego County, 20 percent of drunk driving crashes have occurred during the 8 p.m. hour.

Pat Hodgkin directs the local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

"Knowing that, I think we all have to be really responsible," says Hodgkin. "If we have been drinking, don't get in the car. If you're planning on going to watch fireworks, designate a driver."

Federal officials say nationwide in 2007 during the 4th of July weekend, one out of three drivers who had an accident was legally drunk.
