Tuesday, March 17, 2009
Father Maurice Chase is celebrating his 90th birthday by giving away some green.
The Catholic priest went to Skid Row on St. Patrick's Day with a wallet packed with $20 bills to give to some of the city's neediest residents.
Chase, a former assistant to the president of Loyola Marymount University, intends to give away thousands of dollars. About 300 people lined up outside the Fred Jordan Mission for the cash.
Chase has been giving money away each week for the past 24 years.
