Maureen Cavanaugh: Less than six months into his term of office, President Barack Obama is about to appoint a nominee to the US Supreme Court. Even though this appointment is not expected to shift the ideological balance of the court, the significance of appointing a new justice to a lifetime term is hard to overestimate. We'll hear who the president is considering and why.
