Raise a Glass at the Gaslamp

Reading Cinemas (formerly Pacific Theatres) launches what it's calling Cinema 21 at the Gaslamp 15. Beginning this Saturday May 16, Gaslamp 15 filmgoers will be able to order cocktails while watching their Saturday evening movies. So beware of shakycam films! Patrons 21 and older may buy beer, wine, or their favorite mixed beverages during designated screenings on Saturdays from 6 to 10 pm. The Gaslamp 15 will also offer separate showings of these same films to guests who are not yet 21. Tickets may be purchased online or at the box office; guests must provide a photo ID at the theater.

In a press release, Elizabeth McCormick, Reading Cinemas’ Promotions and Events Manger, said, “We are happy to be the only first-run theater in San Diego offering this service to our guests. This will give the patrons the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy their favorite adult beverage while taking in a great film.”

This opens the possibility for a film series matching drinks and movies -- a little Merlot with Sideways, beer with Strange Brew, and some martinis with The Thin Man.
