The US Coast Guard is confirming several deaths in the crash of a Navy Helicopter off the coast of San Diego. KPBS Reporter Katie Orr has details.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Jetta Disco says three bodies have been recovered from the crash scene.

The Coast Guard, as well as the Navy, the US Navy and the Mexican Navy, are all searching for the remaining two survivors.

The Navy helicopter crashed last night during a training exercise southwest of San Diego. It was attached to the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier. Earlier this month, a military helicopter crash in the East County killed two pilots based at MCAS Miramar.
