KPBS Takes Top Honors at Press Club Awards

'Getting By: From Wall Street to Main Street' Receives Best of Show for Web Sites

Editor's note: In a previous version, we incorrectly identified the Press Club as SPJ. KPBS has been recognized for outstanding achievement in television, radio and Web content at the 36th Annual San Diego Press Club Excellence in Journalism Awards.

The Best of Show award for Web sites went to KPBS and Joanne Faryon, Megan Burke, Ross Ching, and Nathan Gibbs for “Getting By: From Wall Street to Main Street.” The project examined the local economy and how people are coping, given the market crash, the foreclosure mess, and the rising cost of rent, gas and food.

KPBS received a total of 29 awards, including eight first place awards, 13 second place awards, and seven third place awards. Thirteen of the awards went to KPBS environment reporter, Ed Joyce, for his work on KPBS, 89.5 FM.
