Morgan Justice-Black with I Love A Clean San Diego said she expects more than 5,000 volunteers to scour waterways over more than 150 miles of the county.
"It was a pretty rainy winter and what happens when it rains is a lot of trash that originates in inland areas gets washed down into our waterways and into our ocean," said Justice-Black.
She estimates that volunteers will remove close to 200,000 pounds of trash from waterways and other areas in the county.
