The Sempra Energy Foundation today announced $1 million in charitable donations to nonprofit organizations in California and the U.S. Gulf Coast region.
According to the foundation, it operated a grant-incentive program to support charitable efforts among Sempra employees.
"There are thousands of people in need this holiday season, so we are pleased to be able to provide help through our financial support and through the tireless efforts of the employees of the Sempra Energy companies, who volunteer their time to many community organizations," said G. Joyce Rowland, foundation president.
More than 100 groups received funding, including the San Diego Armed Services YMCA and the Midnight Mission of Los Angeles.
The corporation earlier this year gave out $1 million in grants to nonprofits for environmental education.
