SPECIAL COVERAGE: Living With Wildfires: San Diego Firestorm 10 Years Later

Holiday Will Mean Closure Of Some Government Offices

— With New Year's Day falling on a Saturday, there will be a patchwork of holiday closures in the days ahead, with most city, county and federal offices closed on Friday.

With some government services available and others not, officials suggest anyone hoping to do business with a public agency to check first to make sure it is open.

In the city of San Diego, all administrative offices, recreation centers, community pools and libraries will be closed Friday and Saturday.

Offices in most of the other cities will also be closed, except for the city of Vista, where City Hall will be open Friday.

County offices will be closed, and libraries will not be open either Friday or Saturday. County animal shelters in Oceanside, San Diego and Bonita will be closed Friday and open Saturday. Parks will be open.

Some state offices will be open Friday.

Trash collection will not be delayed. However, the Miramar Landfill will be closed on Saturday.

Fire and law enforcement agencies will operate normally.
