SAN DIEGO - Authorities have arrested 13 people and seized several thousand pounds of marijuana in two sea smuggling attempts off the San Diego coast.
U.S. Border Patrol agents seized the marijuana around 1 a.m. Tuesday after catching a group of people unload the drug off a boat at a La Jolla beach. Federal authorities said an unspecified number of suspects were arrested.
About two hours later, agents arrested 13 immigrants suspected of entering the country illegally aboard a boat that landed at Ocean Beach. Authorities said the suspects included 12 Mexicans and one Guatemalan.
