San Diego City Councilwoman Donna Frye says she’s not running for a County Supervisor position because the city is a mess and needs her full attention.

Frye says she considered a lot of different things when deciding whether to run against Republican County Supervisor Ron Roberts. But she says she’s decided to focus her energy on where she is now. Frye is being termed out of her seat on the city council. She says she hopes another Democrat will decide to run against Roberts.

“I was under the impression that there were other candidates in that race. And it’s most recently that we learned that Assemblymember Saldaña was not going to run and the same thing with Shelia Jackson,” she said. “So all along there had been people in the race. It was just sort of at the last minute that I learned that people were not going to be running.”

Frye says once she’s out of office she’ll still work on issues that concern the city, as she did before she was elected. She would not rule out the possibility of running for office again in the future.
