Local fishing businesses haven't seen any negative impacts from the oil spill. But, so far, they haven't seen any benefits either.

Steve Foltz is with the Chesapeake Fish Company. He said the types of seafood that come from the Gulf of Mexico are different than the fish here. But he says San Diego's industry might get a bump if customers can't find Gulf seafood in other places and have to try something new.

"If they can't, then they'll probably call us and call up and down the west coast, east coast, and other parts of the world and substitute those species with other species," he said.

Foltz says locally caught seafood includes swordfish, sea bass and halibut. He says an oil spill near San Diego would be as devastating as the Gulf of Mexico spill.
