Heavy Rain, Wind Coming To San Diego

A large upper level trough of low pressure approaching from the northwest will likely bring rain to San Diego County late today into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain, which could be heavy at times, will taper off late Saturday, the agency advised.

A second upper level disturbance could bring more rain Sunday, with showers lingering into Monday.

The NWS estimates rainfall totals through Monday will range from about a inch west of the mountains to up to three inches on coastal mountain slopes.

Much colder temperatures were expected with the storm system, along with strong westerly winds.

A few inches of snow could eventually accumulate on the highest peaks of local mountains Sunday into Monday, according to the Weather Service.
