Men Accused Of City Heights Shooting Scheduled For Court Appearance

Two men accused of taking part in a gang-related shooting that resulted in a lockdown at an elementary school in City Heights are scheduled to make their first court appearances today.

Hector Noe Munguia and Jesus Roberto Ramirez allegedly shot a man in the back Tuesday around 2 p.m. near 52nd Street and Orange Avenue. About a half-dozen shots were fired, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Students at Fay Elementary School were locked inside their classrooms for about five minutes while police searched the area by ground and from the air.

Munguia, 18, and Ramirez, 20, were traced to an apartment on 52nd Street about an hour after the shooting and arrested, police said.

The victim was hospitalized, but his condition was not released.
