Police Arrest Man In Conjunction With Fallbrook Shooting

A 21-year-old man was behind bars today for allegedly firing a handgun at men doing road work near Fallbrook.

David Garcia was arrested Wednesday in the De Luz area, close to where the shooting occurred on Oct. 21, according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Mike Barnett.

Road workers with the county's Department of Public Works reported that a man in a red Nissan Frontier fired a round from a handgun at them on De Luz Murrieta Road shortly before 12:30 p.m. Oct. 21, Barnett said. No one was injured in the gunfire.

Deputies stopped Garcia on Wednesday in the same area based on the vehicle and shooter description given by the road workers, Barnett said.

He was taken into custody after the deputies allegedly found illegal drugs in his possession. Road workers later identified Garcia as the shooter, according to Barnett.

He was then booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges.
