One firefighter sustained a minor heat-related injury today while battling a brush fire near Ramona that had blackened more than 70 acres by late afternoon, according to Cal Fire.
By 8 p.m. Monday, firefighters had 100 percent containment on the blaze, which broke out about 3:05 p.m. in the vicinity of Wildcat Canyon and San Vicente roads, according to Cal Fire spokeswoman Roxanne Provaznik.
About 100 firefighters from Cal Fire and Heartland Fire agencies battled the flames, with help from three helicopters, two air tankers and a bulldozer crew, Provaznik said.
The work of the helicopters and air tankers was done by early evening, but fire crews remained at the scene to watch for flareups, according to a Cal Fire captain.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation, Provaznik said.
