Almost one in three homes with a mortgage in San Diego County are underwater.

In San Diego County, close to 30 percent of homeowners are underwater, meaning they owe more on their mortgages than their homes are worth.
The one bright spot on the subject is California dropped from 5th to 6th place in the nation for the percentage of underwater homes.
