Fire Damages Church In Old Town

Firefighters battled a blaze in an Old Town church today, before extinguishing it 20 minutes later.

The blaze began about 8:25 a.m. at the Old Town Community Church on the corner of Conde and Congress streets. People could see flames coming from the building, a San Diego Fire-Rescue dispatcher said.

Crews extinguished the fire by 8:45 a.m.

Fire investigators were still on the scene. There was no word on the cause or any damage, she said.

There were no reported injuries.
