Another Moderate Earthquake In Mexico Felt In San Diego

A magnitude 4.5 tremor struck Baja California near Mexicali and lightly shook San Diego today, but no damage or injuries were reported, according to the sheriff's department.

The quake hit at 11:34 a.m. about 8 miles southwest from Guadalupe Victoria south of Mexicali, or about 120 miles east-southeast of San Diego, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Last Sunday, a magnitude 4.1 quake in the same area struck in the afternoon with several recorded aftershocks.

KPBS has created a public safety coverage policy to guide decisions on what stories we prioritize, as well as whose narratives we need to include to tell complete stories that best serve our audiences. This policy was shaped through months of training with the Poynter Institute and feedback from the community. You can read the full policy here.
