History for Half Pints: 'Spook'-tacular Fun! - Monday, October 17, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Wear your favorite Halloween costume for a parade around the Museum as we read Spooky Hour Halloween storybook, make a scary craft to take home, and eat a cookie in honor of National Cookie Month. $5 per adult/child pair. Reservations are required - call 619-232-6203, ext. 129. Cost: $5.

Join Chef Joy in a cookie baking extravaganza specially tailored for Halloween. You learn how to make dough and shape cookies into ghouls, goblins, witches, bats and a whole lot more. Cost: $50.

The Boulevard BOO! Parade & Carnival - Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Celebrate community spirit and cultural diversity as San Diego’s Halloween theme parade spirits down El Cajon Boulevard. Heading east, the parade route begins at 59th Street and disappears at Rolando Boulevard. The BOO! Parade is a free, family-friendly event featuring a spellbinding parade with ghoulish floats, unique vintage cars, costumes characters, bands and more!

Oceanside Museum of Art Presents 'Art After Dark' - Friday, October 28, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The next OMA Art After Dark will thrill guests to their core. Experience dueling graffiti artists, D.E. Mad Doctor Crew vs. Aero Zombies, battling it out on the museum's terrace and view "Memento Mori: Remember Your Mortality," an exhibition specially curated to align with Art After Dark Death, on view October 15-30, 2011. Cost: $25.
