A fire of unknown origin blackened about three open acres east of Lakeside today, briefly threatening several homes but causing no structural damage or injuries.
The blaze erupted in hilly terrain off the 8000 block of Bar Ranch Trail in the Harbison Canyon area about 12:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
Ground crews and personnel aboard two air tankers and two helicopters had the flames under control within an hour, said Mike Mohler, a fire captain with the state agency.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
