San Diegans Plan Clean Energy Rally

Aired 9/21/11 on KPBS Midday Edition.

Clean energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuel is the focus of rally this weekend in San Diego.

A group of San Diegans says it's time to get serious about clean energy and the consequences of global warming. A march and rally is planned this weekend in Balboa Park, aimed at moving San Diego to a clean energy future. And this isn't just a feel-good event. it's part of a world-wide day of action to educate people about the effects of global warming and demand action from politicians and policymakers.

The event features a march starting at 6th and Laurel at 11 am. The rally will be at the Hall of Champions with speakers Congressman Bob Filner and Mayor Lesa Heebner, starting around 12:30 pm.
