The Camp Pendleton Marine believed to be the last person to see 22-year-old Marine wife Brittany Killgore alive has been arrested for her murder.

The Associated Press reports Louis Ray Perez, 45, was already in jail for allegedly stealing an assault rifle from base, when the San Diego Sheriff's Department arrested him for suspicion of murder.

When investigators initially announced they were searching for Killgore after family members reported her missing, they told reporters they believed Perez was the last person to see her alive. Indeed, Killgore's own grandmother told Missouri newspaper the Daily Journal that Brittany was supposed to attend a dinner cruise with Perez and Perez's girlfriend on April 13, the night she went missing.
