The man responsible for killing six people at a Sikh temple in suburban Milwaukee on Sunday was an Army veteran. The suspect, identified by Fox News this morning as Wade Michael Page, was a former soldier based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Page allegedly killed six people and injured four others when he opened fire at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Page himself was killed by police in the shoot out. The FBI is investigating the shooting spree as an act of domestic terrorism.

Sikhs are not Muslim, but they've been mistaken as such, according to CNN:

Because of their customary beards and turbans, Sikh men are often confused with Muslims, and they have been the targets of hate crimes since the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.

One of the witnesses to the massacre told CNN the shooter had a 9/11 tattoo on one arm. Still, officials say the suspect's motive is still unclear.

*"Sikhs are not Muslim, but they've been mistaken as such, according to CNN*"

Yeah, by ignorant racists who think **anyone** wearing a turban is a member of the Taliban.

Why no mention of this terrorist's ties to white supremacist groups??

PDSD,

"... identified by Fox News." Did you catch that? That's like citing Ghirardelli for a story about the negative aspects of chocolate.

ha, thanks for pointing that out DLR. Why does KPBS lower their credibility by using Fox "news" as a source?

Part of the reason I read KPBS is because I don't trust what comes from the journalistically inept FN in the first place!!

That's nothing, Duck, THE NATION advertised FAUX on their back covers, remember? And PBS/NPR invites NCLR and FAIR to give "both sides of the issue" on immigration!!! As if they couldn't find better informed and more civil groups or individuals like Cato, Chamber of Commerce, immigration experts like Douglas Massey, etc.
