Firefighters Brace For Strong Santa Ana Winds

Emergency officials are bracing for dangerous fire conditions across San Diego County today as strong Santa Ana winds blow into the region.

A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential,'' according to an advisory from the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for the inland and mountain areas of the county from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. During that time strong offshore winds gusting 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45 mph are forecast, with humidity levels below 10 percent.
