The Digital Bookmobile made its final San Diego pit stop today at the Serra Mesa/Kearny Mesa Library.

The purpose of the tour is to help educate the public on the many ways they can access library material digitally through their local libraries.

Dan Conochan is one of the bookmobile staff members dedicated to teaching visitors the downloading process.

“We’re here to help, we are here to kind of show them, we’re doing some demonstrations on how to do it, and just promoting the fact that they can download books,” he said. “All they need is a library card and an Internet-connected computer or device and it’s all free.”

Karen Reilly, the branch manager of the library, said the bookmobile helps visitors download materials.

“The digital bookmobile has stations in three different rooms inside, and staff members from Overdrive to help people learn how to download free digital library materials,” she said.

The library has more than 2,000 digital books available and anyone with a library card can access them free from the comfort of their own home.
