Two former top officials at the Southeastern Economic Development Corp. who diverted hundreds of thousands of dollars in public funds to pad their own paychecks have been sentenced to five years probation, community service and ordered to pay $435,000 in restitution. Carolyn Smith and Dante Dayacap pleaded guilty to embezzlement.

Carolyn Smith and Dante Dayacap embezzled public funds of $872,000 dollars (your and my hard earned money) and all they get is 5 years probation and repayment of only what they stole? No fine on top of it? How sickening.
At least all those corrupt redevelopment agencies are being dismantled.
