The Navy announced this week it fired the second in command of a helicopter squadron based in San Diego for making inappropriate sexual comments to a subordinate.

Cmdr. Alan C. Aber was the executive officer of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 71, based at Naval Air Station North Island. HSM-71 is currently embarked on the USS John C. Stennis for "routine training operations."

Aber’s firing came after Cmdr. Todd Glaser, HSM-71’s commanding officer, began an investigation into an allegation that Aber made “inappropriate comments to a single member of the squadron,” Kakiel said. “It’s relatively recent that the event occurred,” he added.

Aber had been tap to become commander of the squadron this year. The Navy has not yet announced his replacement.
