Military Reports Five Marines Committed Suicide In May

Five members of the U.S. Marine Corps committed suicide in May, and 11 others attempted to take their own lives, according to the USMC Suicide Monthly Update for 2012.

As you can see by the graph at left, May has had the highest number of Marine suicides so far this year.

According to the North County Times:

At least three of this year's suicides have taken place at Camp Pendleton, where 11 Marines took their own lives last year.

Of the 18 Marine suicides so far this year, 17 were men, and one was a woman.

The Marine Corps has a resource called DSTRESSLINE for anyone considering suicide. Help is totally confidential, and available by phone or web. Click here for information.
