The parking lot at Lindbergh Field where drivers wait for arriving passengers has been moved to a new location that offers nearly double the parking spaces, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority announced today.
The area known as the cell phone waiting lot used to have 50 spaces on N. Harbor Drive, near Laurel Street. The lot is now closer to the Commuter Terminal and has 97 spaces.
The lot can be accessed at the traffic signal for the rental car return facility.
Airport officials said the free lots have become popular, especially during peak hours.
Also today, the airport announced that the planned repaving project at the SAN Park location on N. Harbor Drive has been delayed. The lot was to have been temporarily relocated beginning Thursday, but the schedule was pushed back by a technical issue, said airport spokeswoman Katie Jones.
She said the public will be notified when the issue is resolved and the relocation occurs.
