Fire Prompts Evacuations At Air Force Academy (Video)

One of the largest wildfires in Colorado history forced some residents at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs to evacuate Tuesday night. The Waldo Canyon fire has burned more than 15,000 acres, according to Reuters.

Colorado Springs Fire Chief Rich Brown told Reuters the fire was "not even remotely close to being contained."

The Air Force Academy is closed to visitors until further notice, according to its website. In addition:

Academy officials have directed a base closure for normal operations for Wednesday. Only mission essential personnel and personnel in direct support of cadet activities such as in-processing and student academics should plan to report for duty.

The Air Force Academy has still scheduled cadet in-processing for Thursday, although the reporting location has changed.
