Home Post Blog: Marine Sgt. Andrew K. Thompson was awarded the Silver Star this week at a Camp Pendleton ceremony. Thompson is a critical skills operator with the 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion at Camp Pendleton.
Thompson earned his Silver Star for his actions during combat in Afghanistan, when he served as an element leader with the Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, according to DVIDS News.
Thompson’s Silver Star citation says he helped overcome the enemy after leading Afghans and his own troops into combat. Because of his “leadership” and “combat effectiveness,” he saved many lives. (read more)
